Rachid ID YASSINE holds a doctorate from the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (Paris), and is a lecturer at the Centre d’étude des religions (UFR CRAC) at Gaston Berger University (Senegal). Visiting professor at Sciences Po Lyon (France), he taught at the University of Perpignan (France, 2007-2015) before moving to Université Saint-Louis de Bruxelles (Belgium). Associate researcher at the Center for Sociological Analysis and Intervention (EHESS/CNRS) and rapporteur of the Laboratory for the Analysis of Societies and Powers in Africa/Diasporas (LASPAD), he coordinates the African Observatory of Religion. With degrees in sociology, anthropology and religious studies, Rachid Id Yassine is currently working on Islam and pluralism (Europe, Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa). Consultant, international expert, member of various scientific associations and author of several articles, he has published L’Islam d’Occident? (Halfa, 2012), Muslims and Catalans, an uncertain identity? (Trabucaire, 2014) and Repenser l’identité (Halfa, 2015, translated into English as Rethinking Identity).
